Google Beats Apple To Become World’s Most Valuable Brand

 

Apple fans, you will feel proud to know that Apple was the most valuable brand in the world for the past five years. However, Google now replaces Apple and takes the top spot according to an annual study of the planet’s leading brand.

According to the latest reports from Brand Finance Global 500 report, Google saw its brand value rise 24% to $109.5 billion in 2017 from $88.2 billion in the year 2016. On the other hand, Apple had the brand value of $145.9 billion in 2016 and had $107.1 billion in 2017, that’s down to 27%

This is what allowed Google to snag the top spot by about $2.4 billion. Brand Finance wrote in its report “Apple had failed to maintain its technological advantage and has repeatedly disillusioned its advocates with tweaks when material changes were expected.”

“Put simply, Apple has over-exploited the goodwill of its customers, it has failed to generate significant revenues from newer products such as the Apple Watch and cannot demonstrate that genuinely innovative technologies are in the pipeline,”

For Google, Brand Finance wrote the company “remains largely unchallenged in its core search business, which is the mainstay of its advertising income.” Google experienced the increased revenues because of its parent company Alphabet had reported better than expected fourth-quarter share

Amazon was considered the third most valuable brand at $106.4 million, AT&T holds the number 4 spot at $87 Billion, Microsoft is at number 5 at $76.3 billion, Samsung occupied number 6 at $66.2 billion, Verizon was at number 7 spot at $65.9 billion. Walmart, Facebook, and ICBC hold the last three spots in the top ten with $62.2 billion, $61.9 billion and $47.8 billion respectively.
