Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs, Update: Galaxy S8 to Feature a Powerhouse SoC with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
The
only thing known about the Snapdragon 835 so far is that it will come
with the Samsung Galaxy S8. However, new reports revealed just how much
more powerful the new processor from Qualcomm is. According to GFXBench,
the new SoC processor will feature a brand new high performance GPU,
the Adreno 540. It will also sport eight cores, which is twice as much
as its predecessor, the Snapdragon 821.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will be based on Samsung’s 14nm FinFET manufacturing process and will run at 2.2GHz per core.
The
Snapdragon 835 also touts more than 25 percent increase in performance
will reducing power consumption by 40 percent. The chip is also smaller
by 30 percent due to the 14nm manufacturing process. One of the most
desirable feature of the 835 apart from its performance is the inclusion
of Quick Charge 4.0. This new feature is said to provide 50 percent
battery charge in just 15 minutes. The
Snapdragon 835 along with its Quick Charge feature will make its way
into the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8. According to experts, the Galaxy S8
will be Samsung’s way of making up for the loss it made on the Galaxy
Note 7. That is why the company is pulling all the stops when it comes
to new features for the phone. In addition to the Snapdragon 835, the Galaxy S8 will also feature its very own digital assistant akin to Apple’s Siri.
The
Galaxy S8 is rumored to be released during next year’s Mobile World
Congress in Spain. Initial reports suggested that there will be a delay
for the unveiling due to the recent investigation on the Galaxy Note 7.
That being said, it looks like the release will be sometime in April
2017. According to various sources, Samsung will use the extra month to
do more product tests on the phone. This is so it can be sure that the
incident involving the Galaxy Note 7 will never happen again.
