YouTube had recently answered the
question. You will be shocked to know that users on YouTube are now
watching one billion hours of videos. That’s an insane number. Well,
back in the year 2015, YouTube announced that it had surpassed 500
million hours per day.
Well, YouTube
now have it’s own mobile app, it even have YouTube Go app which claims
to consume fewer data. So, users also use their mobile apps and
computers to watch videos on YouTube.
YouTube had announced that they achieved
the billion-hour milestone previous year. The company is right now
focusing more on the length of time people spent watching videos, rather
than overall video views.
YouTube’s blog post
says “Let’s put that in perspective. If you were to sit and watch a
billion hours of YouTube, it would take you over 100,000 years. 100,000
years ago, our ancestors were crafting stone tools and migrating out of
Africa while mammoths and mastodons roamed the Earth. If you spent
100,000 years traveling at the speed of light, you could travel from one
end of the Milky Way to the other (and you wouldn’t age a day!). And if
you searched for 100,000 years on YouTube, you’d find a really killer
KISS track.”
Well, YouTube is making some changes in
its mobile app to make its service more enticing, including the
removable of unskippable 30-second advertisements.
